Happy Birthday!!! Yey. Hope you're doing something FUN!
My favorite birthday memory is every year my family has a timeshare in Sebastian, Fl. near the river that we go to during my birthday week. I look forward to this special time to spend with my family because it's quality time we all get to spend together. During the year our schedules get so hectic that it's hard to get together aside from the normal birthday's and holidays.. so when this time of year comes around I get really excited and enjoy spending a full week with them. We go to the beach, celebrate the 4th of July, and have bbq's.. it's so much fun!
Happy Birthday. My 30th birthday is tomorrow!
My favorite memory is having my birthday at Stone Moutain for the lazer show. It was my 8th or 9th birthday I think and all of my friends came. My mom made cupcakes and every one sang Happy Birthday. The whole crowd looked to see what was going on.
Happy 30th! We just celebrated my husband's 30th with this reminder: 30 is just three perfect tens!
I'm a December 9th baby. Growing up, our family tradition for my birthday was a trip to the Christmas tree farm to select the perfect tree for our living room. My sweet husband carried this on this year to make our first married Christmas feel like home for me. December babies complain about getting the short end of the stick during a month when everyone's wrapped up in holiday revelry, but truth is, there's something wonderfully magical about having a birthday then. It's like the whole world is in a celebratory mood!
Happy birthday!!!
I always remember the night before my seventh birthday.. for some reason seven has always seemed like a way bigger number than six to me - for example, 7am is an acceptable time to get up, but 6:59am is not.
So the night before my birthday, I remember lying on my bed crying that I didn't want to turn seven. I wanted to stay little, and in my mind, a seven year old is way older than a six year old - I thought I'd feel different. I thought I'd be different. And I remember my dad sitting there with my comforting me, that I'd still be the same person the next morning. My mom was usually the one that did the comforting (not that my dad is cold-hearted.. we just usually went to my mom first), so it makes the memory extra special!
And here I am over 20 years later, and I don't really feel that much different anyway.. so I guess being seven wasn't so bad after all!
Happiest of Birthdays.
I think I would have to say that my favorite birthday memory is my 13th birthday. I have the most amazing, wild, and crazy best friend (Nicole) who is one year older than I am. So on my 13th birthday she came over to do a sleepover just me and her. My mom planned it out so we got tacos for dinner and made me my grandmothers famous german chocolate cake, but she left the top of it blank and bought all sorts of icings and decorations to go on top and let us have at it. So we anhiliated this cake, it was the ugliest thing ever and the icing combos we did didn't taste that good, but it was AWESOME. So the best part of this is that after we were finished I raised my hands in the air, like yeah awesome go team! and Nicole snapped a picture. She then stuck that picture on a peg board(might I just add it is it is still on that peg board at her mothers house) and it says..."yay, only 1 more year till I am as cool as Nicole in a little thought bubble she attached to it.
That by far stands out as the best birthday that I can remeber because I didn't care about anything except enjoying my friend. Sidenote we are still friends and she is MOH in my wedding this October.
...just wanted to wish you a happy birthday!!!! hope you're having a great day!!! : )
Happy happy birthday!!!!
My birthday is actually a week from Wednesday =) I can't forget my birthday last year which marked my quarter century birthday. My first birthday with my fiance - he planned many many events together by ourselves and with friends, my best friend flew to NY from LA and so did my sisters from MI. It was quite an affair. I realized how blessed I was to have people care about me, whether they were able to make it to the week of celebrations or not. xox
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! Hope its sweet!
My mom and I share a very simple birthday tradition but it means alot to me. For my birthday she gets up extra early and heads to Starbucks for our favorite drinks and stops on the way home at the bakery for delicious birthday sweets, we meet to share sweets and sip or coffee and talk about our birthday wishes, before heading off to work. I do the same for her in return. Its a few moments when we can forget about our duties as mothers and just enjoy.
Every year for my birthday for as long as I can remember my mother made me an angel food cake with drippy frosting. I moved across the country almost 7 years ago now and spent my first birthday away from my friends and family. My boyfriend at the time and now husband knew about the angel food cake tradition and actually surprised me with one when I woke up on the morning of my birthday. And this is a tradition I hope continues for the rest of my life.
My favorite was getting a pair of red boots, red raincoat and matching red umbrella for my August 9 birthday. I pranced around in them for days. (yes, I was 4.)
My favorite birthday memory is for my daughter not myself. She will be four in November and every year, since the day she was born, I write her a birthday card, seal it and put it away for safekeeping. When she is old enough to appreciate them, I will give them all to her so that she knows just how much I valued the anniversary of her coming into my life each year.
happy 30th!!
growing up, my mom used to make coffee cake for my sister and me on our birthdays. she even let us have a tiny bit of coffee in a cup of milk. nowadays i still have coffee cake on my b-day, but with a tiny bit of milk in a cup of coffee : )
My fave birthday memory was my 7th birthday. I had been telling my parents for months that I wanted a surprise party. On the morning of my 7th birthday, my dad took me to the duck pond to feed the ducks. He took me out for a special father - daughter lunch and when we returned home, my mom had assembled my whole family and a group of my friends. Everyone jumped out and yelled SURPRISE! I was soooooooo happy and sooooooooo surprised I passed out from the shock of it. A minute later I came to and had the time of my life. I will never forget that day.
Happy 30th! My favorite recent birthday memory was my 29th which I celebrated with co-workers in Chicago. Little did we know our favorite pizza place was filming a commercial that night so I ended up making a cameo in their commercial in a tacky birthday hat :) It was really comical!
from one lucky 30 year old to another... have a wonderful birthday!!! (it only hurts for a minute).
Happy Birthday. Trust me, your 30s will be much better than your 20s (if 30 is the new 20, then 20 is the new teenager!) My favorite birthday was my last one, when I got engaged. I know it's a bit cliched, but I have always dreamed of someone, anyone throwing me a surprise party. I've hinted and suggested to no avail (I love planning them for other people, you'd think that they would get the hint!). Anyway, my fiance not only surprised me with a surprise party, but with a proposal as well! I had always thought that it should be a private moment, but I really liked having our friends there to celebrate too!
Happy Birthday!
My favorite memory was my 21st brithday. I was with all my friends and family. My dad took me to this little hole in the wall bar and as soon as i walked in they started playing "happy birthday" and he had put balloons and streamers up. My dad doesnt wear his heart on his sleeve so that meant alot that he went to all that trouble to do that for me.
Around here, every year on your birthday you get thrown into the fountain on campus. It is a great tradition to celebrate your birthday with.
My favorite birthday memory would have to be from my 16th birthday. We had just moved to Florida month prior and I had made a few friends. My parents wanted me to feel more at home so they threw me a surprise birthday party at my favorite pizza place. All my new friends came! Not to mention my parents extended my curfew by one hour :-)
Favorite Birthday memory: My birthday is a day after my aunt's birthday and a day before her husband's birthday. After she got married she moved away. I grew up with her babysitting me so I have fond memories of her. So many years later it happened to be around that time and they visited us. We all got to celebrate together, with three cakes!!
Happy Birthday to you! I highly encourage you to embrace turning 30 as best you can. It's a reminder that you made it through yet another year without the world ending - how happy is that!!!
When I turned 30 two years ago, I planned out a very "me" celebration because it was a SuperBigHuge deal for me to reach such a milestone. I was always one of those who never thought they'd make it to their twenties, much less make it out & into their thirties. Turning 30 and having the wonderful life I had (and still have!) was an amazing accomplishment and one I could not, would not take for granted.
My birthday had a theme involving all four elements. The night before my birthday, several friends joined me for a casual, down to earth dinner with drinks. The next morning, my man and I woke early to hike a nearby mountain so I could get as close to the sky as possible. We then returned home for an afternoon bonfire in the copper fire pit I'd bought specifically to burn away things that reminded me of less-than happier days in my past. You know all those bits of paper (journals, photographs, etc.) that you find yourself keeping without really knowing why? I decided it was time to purge them, and what better way to do it than with fire! That night, we went into Boston to our favorite restaurant on the edge of Boston Harbor for an amazing lobster dinner. Earth, Air, Fire, Water. It was awesome!
First of all Happy 30th Birthday.... They say 30 is the new 20 ;)
My favorite birthday memory was last year when I turned 30. I went all out and celebrated BIG. My two best friends who are also my maid of honors have our birthdays in the month of August. One is on the 28th, the other is 30th and I'm on the 31st. The 3 of us got together and threw a big party at a bar and celebrated with all of our family and friends. The owner allowed us to use their projector and we shared photos when we were babies up to current.
The following day (31st) my family and fiance had another surprise birthday party for me. My sister made sure we all had our martinis or maragaritas. Meanwhile my father was "The Taco Guy". My mother made fresh juices and my soon to be in laws decorated the backyard. My co-worker/friend made the cupcakes and my fiance was the DJ. It was truely a great memory that I will never forget and a awesome way to celebrate my 30th birthday.
My favorite birthday tradition is to have a lobster dinner with my family. We do this for everyone's birthday so there are usually 3-4 each summer. So delicious!
Way back on my 17th birthday, I had the best birthday ever. I didn't want a party or anything because my sweet 16 was a disaster, and I was just over it. Well, the night before my birthday, my best friend came over and said he wanted to take me out to dinner. He knew I didn't want a party because I had such a terrible time the year before. I was in sweatpants and had on no make up and told him I needed to change. He said not to bother, but I insisted. I didn't have time for make up (the horror!), but I did manage to find something clean-ish to wear. He took me to one of those Japanese habachi restaurants and rushed me inside saying we were going to be late for the reservations he made. So, we hustled inside and as I turned the corner ALL my friends were there. Turns out he was actually rushing me inside so that I didn't notice one of my friend's rather distinctive car and get suspicious. He had organized a big birthday surprise dinner for me. It made up for my crappy sweet 16.
This is really hard. I think the best thing to say would be the family tradition to celebrate birthdays, regardless of age, sex or time of year. A lot of people I know stop celebrating birthdays after 21 except for the 'important' five-year markers. My family is entirely different. We celebrate everyone's birthday, ususally for a whole week. We make dinner, cake, go out, give gifts, and in general just revel in the fact that this person who we love has been granted the gift of life.
My personal favorite birthday would be my 21st. My sister flew me out to Vegas to celebrate party-style, we had a halloween party in my honor, and I got my first drink surrounded by over 50 friends at TGIF!
My favorite birthday memory was celebrating my birthday and engagement in Disneyland with my fiance. We had gotten engaged the night before in front of the castle. Everywhere we went we were congratulated (we both wore buttons that said "Just Engaged!"), it was truly the best birthday I could ask for.
My family celebrates "Golden Birthdays" - when your age matches the day you were born. My sweet 16 happened on October 16, which was a Saturday, so it was also Sweetest Day! My parents had wanted to get me something special anyway - it just happened that they were upgrading the diamond in my mom's engagement ring. They took her original diamond and had it made into a ring for me - a sweet, sentimental, one of a kind gift for my Sweet 16! Made it the most memorable birthday yet!
My favorite birthday memory is a simple one. My parents threw a party for me at a park, we had a pinata, food and my mom hand made me a Smurfette birthday cake. I loved that cake!
Happy happy birthday!!!!
My birthday is December 20th and so, when I was younger we were always out of school for Christmas vacation by my birthday. My sister and I would always lounge around in our flannel pjs while the snow fell outside. Nothing better than hanging with your best friend while watching A Christmas Story and eating Christmas cookies :)
Hope you have a very special day with the ones you love!!
One of my best birthdays was just a few yrs ago. I was on a cruise to Alaska with my father. At the time he was 75 and he doesn't like to travel alone. I was the lucky one of my brothers and sisters to join him. The day we were visiting the National Park where there are glaciers was my birthday. What a totally spectacular scene. It was so amazing to be that close to something so awe inspiring. I did miss my husband who went to NYC for a few days. My birthday happens to be the day before Sept 11 and he was at Ground Zero on my birthday when they were having tributes.
Happy birthday! My best... that would be doing nothing all day but drinking hot cocoa and watching horrible sci-fi movies with my fiance.
Happy 30th! My favorite birthday memory is a Halloween themed birthday party when I was 7, and my mom made an awesome spiderweb scavenger hunt. So fun!
My dad was never a great cook, but he always had fun with my birthday cakes. He would make them in the shape of my current favorite animal or my recent infatuation. I had cakes shaped like Mickey Mouse's head (complete with licorice ball nose...gross) and a bunny rabbit cake covered in coconut, and a Strawberry Shortcake cake with a jam filling...and one, time he made a cake in the shape of a stage and put New Kids on the Block figurines on it and threw me an entirely NKOTB themed party. It was always exciting to see what Dad had in store. My birthdays were always a big deal. My dad died when I was 19 but, in his honor, I make a crazy themed birthday cake every year on my birthday.
My favorite birthday was my 25th (and most recent) birthday. I took a half day off a work to get my hair and makeup done (a little pampering) and was so excited to go to a professinal hockey game with my family and friends that night to celebrate and then off to the bar. Little did I know that when I got home my boyfriend was there with his own agenda :o) He decorated my house and had me unwrap presents in presents until I ended up with what I thought was digital camera. However, when I opened it I was shocked to see a ring box. The best part was that my family and friends were all there to celebrate later! I can't imagine a better birthday!
My favorite birthday memory is of my ninth birthday party. I had my party at the YMCA, so my friends and I all swam for a few hours. Then we changed and went upstairs to open presents. My mom then surprised me with a clown, which at the time, was a big deal! He made us balloon hats and animals and at the end, pulled a birthday cake out of his hat. I just remember for the next few weeks, my friends all thought I was the coolest. We all spent the night at the YMCA and I just remember we got no sleep because we were all up talking all night. I have a video tape from that birthday, so I love putting it in sometimes and remembering the good times!
Happy Birthday! My mom has been 29 for 21 years!
My favorite birthday memory has to be when I turned 5. Just a couple days before my birthday, I was playing in the ashes in the fireplace, in my new Sunday dress. My mom found me and was so upset that she went into her room. Well I was upset so I followed her. She didn't know I was following her, because she shut my finger in her bedroom door and broke it. My parents then rushed me to the ER and on my birthday video I have a huge bandage around my poor pinky!
Carmen
Happy 30th! Just celebrated my own 40th, where does the time go? My favorite memory is my 9th birthday when my parents took me to a fancy hotel in Tulsa, Okla. We ate out for all our meals, swam in the indoor pool and went to a museum. I thought it must be what people did in places like New York City or Paris!
Happy, Happy Birthday!
My favorite birthday memory is spending the evening with friends at my favorite karaoke place singing, drinking, and reveling in the joy that was 27.....Crazy fun times!
Happy birthday!!
My favorite birthday was this past one, on July 4th when I turned 21. My fiance and my friends took me to my favorite bar/beach club in the Hamptons, and we had such a great time with perfect weather, great drinks, and an amazing DJ.
My favorite birthday is the one coming up next month! My fiancee is set to deport to Rhode Island while I stay back in CA for about 6 months. So he bought plane tickets and reserved a hotel room in Boston as my birthday gift. We'll be spending time and I get to go on a mini vacation. I'm super excited!
My favorite birthday memory was my last birthday :) I turned 19, so my parents used a themed gift idea. Since this is my last year of being a teen, they got gifts that would reflect different times in my life. For example, they got a rugrats dvd b/c it was my fave when i was little, a jar of baby food, bubbles...just really cute stuff like that. They got me a video recorder to and told me to document all my memories :)
The whole idea was really sweet, i felt so loved that they had put so much thought into my birthday. <3
My favorite birthday memory is from my and my twin sister´s 15th birthday. It was just a small party at a friend´s house with no big expectations and we were surprised with a homemade cake by two of our best friends. And this wasn´t just any homemade cake. The two of them had worked all day on a cake that they envisioned consisting of multiple layers and decorated with an ornate sunset beach scene. When they presented it to us they asked us what we thought it was and I looked at it and answered...a blue cake with a big ball of cheese on top...? Though it wasn´t as huge and perfect as they had imagined, and the sun did more resemble a cheese ball then a sunset, it was still the best cake I´ve ever had and the most thoughtful present we could have received!
Happy Birthday!!
My favourite birthday memory is from 7 years ago, when I celebrated for the first time with my then boyfriend (now husband). What stood out for me, is that we share the same birthday, which is quite special. We spent the day gallavanting in the city, had an intimate dinner for two, exchanged gifts and snuggled together.
My favorite memory is my 16th birthday. My best friend threw me a surprise birthday party at my parent's house and I seriously had no idea. I was blown away by her thoughtfulness and how she made it come through (the way she got me out of the house was awesome)!!
Each birthday is certainly unique and special in its' own way however those from my childhood stand out in my mind most. From Barbie doll birthday cakes to special sweets treats that were shared with my classmates, each birthday had its' own magic. Most importantly, I always had the love of my family surrounding me each year!
My favorite birthday memory was my 8th birthday, my younger sister was born just two days before, so my mom (obviously) didnt have time to bake the traditional "birthday cupcakes" that you pass out on your birthday. My poor dad in effort to make me happy, swung by the convience store on the way to school and grabbed a back of reeces peanut butter cups, tossed them in my lap and said "Here pass these out." I was MORITIFED that I didnt have homemade goods to pass out! In the end all my classmates were happy because they got acutal candy at school, and I got a new sister to boot!
happy birthday!
i love spending my birthday week at our beach house. we always end up taking vacation that week since it falls on fathers day usually too! it's a great way to celebrate with family and friends!
Happy 30th! I hope it was SUPER!
My favorite birthday memory was my 9th birthday when my mom made me a Barbie birthday cake with a real Barbie in the middle and the cake part was what made up her ball gown. It seemed so magical and amazing at the time, and truthfully it still amazes me how she figured out how to do it. So much so that I still smile every time I think about it. :-)

Let's see.. my FAV birthday memories are always of my mom. She made such a great effort to make sure everything was perfect! From special candles to amazing thoughtful gifts! Mom always made sure we celebrated every event as if it were our last.
My favorite birthday memory (even though I don't remember it) was being born on Mother's day. It falls on the day every so often and makes for such a special Mother's/birthday whenever it rolls around.
